Traveling far from home may not be such a good idea at the moment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a winter getaway. In fact, many resorts and hotels have taken extra precautions to keep you safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can enjoy these winter getaways without driving more than two hours from the Finger Lakes Region & Rochester!

It’s easy to social distance when you spend on the day on the trails at Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers snow tubing , snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Are you a roller coaster aficionado? Feed your need for speed with a snowy downhill ride on the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster.

The resort recommends purchasing tickets online before you visit and notes that face coverings are required when it’s impossible to remain six feet away from other guests.

Accommodation options include the Inn at Hidden Valley, the Tamarack Club and a variety of vacation rentals. When you’re ready to tuck into a filling meal, John Harvard’s Restaurant and McCarty Café offer plenty of tempting entree choices.

The hotel’s rooms feature unique décor and luxurious features and amenities, including pillow-top bedding and fireplaces, balconies and jetted bathtubs in some rooms. La Tourelle’s August Moon Spa is currently open every day for massages and facials, as is The Bistro at La Tourelle. The Bistro’s dining room has been reconfigured to offer socially distanced dining, although you can always opt for take-out or room service if you prefer. (Masks are required indoors at the hotel except when you are in your room or seated at your table at The Bistro.)

The Cascades Indoor Waterpark is the place to be if your family is ready for a day at the beach. (Due to COVID-19 regulations, only the wave pool, kiddie pool and small indoor pool are currently open. If you plan to visit the waterpark, you’ll need to make a reservation for a three-hour time slot.)

There’s no need to bundle everyone in the car at the end of a long day. Hope Lake Lodge is located across the street from Greek Peak and offers 106-condominium-style suites with fireplaces and kitchens. If you’d rather leave the cooking to someone else, stop by the Trax Pub & Grill for a meal or order take out from the restaurant.

Another great option for getting out and enjoying the 1,200 foot vertical mountain, with two high-speed quads, 38 slopes and trails designed for every skier or snowboarder from beginner to expert. A picturesque view from the top of the mountain looking down, it also offers night lighting on 97% of the trails to also enjoy.

On the borders between Cayuga Lakes and Seneca, the Fingers Lakes National Forest covers over 16,000 acres in the region. During the winter months, some roads are available for traveling across. Other ways of traveling through the forest involve activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Also, lots of wildlife in the area to enjoy for sightseeing or hunting.
