If you’re planning to build a new home in Canandaigua—or thinking about remodeling your exisiting home, you’ll want to pay attention to your master bathroom in particular. According to the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), bathroom remodeling is the second most popular remodeling project Americans undertake every year (right on the heels of kitchen remodeling). That gives you an idea of how important bathrooms are to homeowners.
One of the central focuses of any master bathroom, of course, is the tub and/or the shower—probaly because it’s something you use so frequently. There has been some debate in the homebuilding industry as to whether a soaking tub or a larger shower is the preferred option for today’s master bathrooms.
A few years ago, the majority of new master baths seemed to include a large soaking tub. The idea was that your master bathroom would be an oasis—a spa-like place where you could relax and soak your tension away while reading a book or listening to soothing music.
These days, however, the trend seems to be toward larger showers that offer massaging waterflows or even steam as a way to soothe tired and aching muscles (while using less energy and water).
In the end, it really comes down to what works best for you. Some people are “tub” people and some are “shower” people. There’s no right or wrong solution here. What matters is what makes you feel more comfortable and relaxed in your master bathroom. Some homeowners like the aestheic of a standalone tub in their bathroom; it’s a pleasing sight and it just invites you to unwind.
In your home, you can create the master bathroom that best suits your particular tastes (and needs) – and that makes you feel the most comfortable. And we Gerber Homes can help.
