The Advantages of Purchasing a Model Home

Although model homes have been harder to buy lately due to the high demand for new homes, you can still find a few in our area. If you’re the lucky buyer of a model home, you’ll enjoy:

• Upgrades Galore: Model homes not only help buyers visualize floor plans but also show them how upgrades personalize a newly built house. These homes often feature upgraded cabinets, countertops, flooring, paint, light fixtures, showers, high-end appliances, and upgraded landscaping. As the new owner of a model home, you’ll get all these features for a fraction of the cost you’d pay to add them to a new build. You may even be able to negotiate to keep some of the furniture and artwork.

Of course, model homes do have a few minor drawbacks. There’s bound to be a little wear and tear after hundreds of people have toured the home. If the carpet looks a little worn, the home builder may be willing to replace it before you move in. You’ll also need to be flexible about floor plans and lot locations. Although the house may not have the floor plan or lot you would have selected, the upgrades and extra features can make it an excellent value.
