This 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath ranch-style home includes the very latest in energy saving systems and techniques! Built under the guidelines of NYSERDA to be at least 65% more energy efficient than code, the super-insulated home will feature a highly energy efficient mechanical ventilation system and heating and cooling system. Once the home is occupied, it will be monitored for whole house energy use for a one–year period to allow the actual performance of the home to be compared with initial estimates of energy use and utility costs.

 

 The Build Green. Live Green. home is one of seven homes throughout the state whose builders will partner with Newport Ventures and NYSERDA to provide ultra energy efficient homes, whose performance will be verified with real world data.  To track the progress of the project visit:

For Homearama, the home will be left partially completed, so that the public will be able to see the various techniques and systems being used to achieve this high level of energy efficiency. Placards will be placed throughout the house that will explain the features and benefits of each.
